Growing my professional wardrobe

tea time blogger

Ever since graduating college, I have tried to transfer my University wardrobe into a casual professional wardrobe. This meant I have been throwing out the cheap pieces from Forever 21 (no offense) and exchanging them for good quality pieces that have a little bit more intimidating price tag.

When it came to clothes, I didn’t have to throw everything out. I had a lot of pieces that fit my new lifestyle and the new me (the professional casual version). However, all of my bracelets had to go. Everything I had was extremely chunky and from 2012.

I feel like a big issue for 20-somethings entering the career world is balancing a professional look while keeping it youthful.

I got extremely lucky in finding that balance in Sabika Jewelry. I was sent the Seamless Vienna Bracelet from the Winter Collection and I absolutely love it! I love that its the first in my collection of “Big Girl” bracelets because it goes with other pieces so beautifully! Learn more here!

I also am in love with my shirt that I am wearing! It is from a Van Heusen outlet, and I wish I had bought it in different colors because it is so casual but professional!

My jeans are the Rockstar style from Old Navy. These are the only types of jeans I wear! I have them in black, olive, pink, maroon and these denim ones! They are so comfortable and feel so good on! I used to be anti-pants, but these made me a convert!

They are also great for a professional wardrobe because they come in so many different colors and fabrics!

My booties were a gift from a year ago, so I dont remember where they were from! However, they are similar to any Chelsea Boot!

ADVENTURES

Thanks to my friend Edith for coming to visit me in little ole Alabama! If you don’t follow me on Instagram (@repressingthecrazy), here is a little peak of our adventures!

We went to a tea room north of Montgomery, and I fell in love with coconut almond tea! This tea room was great because it was bottomless, and each pot you could try a new flavor.

THEY HAD OVER 100 FLAVORS OF TEA!

We got the tea for two, which came with two pots of bottomless tea, quiche, a salad, tea sandwiches, brownies, cookies and scones.

I felt like a princess for sure! Everything was extremely tastey! The scones were so soft and buttery!

The experience also taught me to love cucumber sandwiches! Something I thought I would never say!

We also went to the Mountain Brook area in Birmingham! We went to a cute little french place, and I had a chicken salad! It was so good, plus the atmosphere was really chill!

Plus the bread and oil was delicious!

Sorry for the dark photo, the places was on the dim side.

I really enjoyed the visit, and it was fun checking out some local places!

Thanks for reading!

  • I need to do the same with my wardrobe! Although I just started college, I feel like I need to revamp my closet and also add in some semi-professional pieces. I love that bracelet!

    • Thanks girl! Spend a little money to get a good blazer and a go to professional shirt! That should get you through college! I suggest you do all the crazy fashion and hair choices you can until you start your career (unless your an artist or something). I regret not dying my hair purple/silver just once!

  • I did the same with my wardrobe, I threw out all of my older, cheaper pieces, but sometimes it’s still so hard to not add ten years to my age with my corporate wardrobe. That bracelet is stunning – what a perfect accessory!
