2016 Apartment Tour

I have had many request to do an apartment tour, but I didn’t really want to do one until everything was exactly how I wanted it. BUT NOW – I am moving, so I decided to do go ahead and do one, even if everything isn’t perfect.

I worked really hard on this video, so I encourage you to watch it, but here are some highlights:

ENTRYWAY

The entryway dresser used to be a western style piece that was in my parents suite set for their bedroom (here is an idea of what it looked like). They donated it to me, and with the help of my crafty mother, we removed the bottom two drawers and added baskets for shoes and such.

We painted the whole body of the dresser white, but just stained the top and mirror with a dark walnut stain. The handles were actually purchased for dirt cheap at Walmart. I love redoing furniture to match your home! It’s so money smart, and it looks like you have a more expensive piece!

LIVING ROOM

The two things in my living room that I want to talk about is my milk crate coffee table and my blue chair.

The milk crate coffee table is everywhere nowadays, and for good reason. It’s such a cute piece that doubles as storage, and it costs about half the price of a new one. It was really easy to assemble, if you would like me to go further into details let me know.

My chair used to be my great grandparents mermaid chair. This project took a lot of tears and irritation. I do not recommend ever doing this, even though I love the result. For extra cushioning, I bought some batting at Michaels and used the inside of some old pillows. The fabric is also from Michaels. It’s really nice to have a custom piece, but never again, ha!

DINING ROOM

Since moving to my apartment, I haven’t had a space to do big projects. I want to finish my dining room set to match the entryway dresser. This is on my to-do list.

My favorite part of the dining room is my drink station. My shelf from Hobby Lobby is literally my favorite piece in my whole home! The bookcase was actually something I had my whole life, and I just painted it white and added some cute wrapping paper to the back of it.

BEDROOM

I love my bedroom. This is the only room in my apartment that is almost done. I love my bedding and my dressers!

The only DIY in this room is my makeup vanity. This desk is the first piece of furniture I ever bought. I painted it silver and got a mirror cut to fit the top. This gives it the glam mirror look without spending all my money!
