MEAL PLANNING TIPS

I have been meal planning all of April, and I have learned a lot! I have played around with meal planning in the past, but I never solely relied on it before.

I want to share the do’s and don’ts I learned in my month of extreme meal prep:

MEAL

DO: Make a specific menu and reach to use things twice. I made the mistake of relying too much on salad. I l love salad, but leaves wilt and, it can get old real quick. I learned it’s better to make something different with your leftovers. For example, in the challenge I am doing now, I make double the amount of something and leave the leftover for another meal. I use it in a different way, so I wont get tired of the food.

DON’T: Don’t make it to complicated. The more you have to do, the more you will give up. Look for recipes you can prep ahead of time, like overnight oats and crock pot meals.

DO: Consider meal planning as you go! If you separate the meats when you buy, you can make it easier on yourself. When you make one meal, eat the meal fresh, but make enough for leftovers the next day. For dinners, I would make double for the next day, and while I was waiting for my meal to finish cooking, I would prep my snacks and breakfast for the next day.

DON’T: Don’t buy too much at once! Meal planning is best one week at a time. If you eye too far ahead, food can go bad, and you waste so much!

MEAL PLANNING TIPS

I am loving the challenge I am currently doing! I am learning how to make new dishes, and I am learning about vegetables I have never tried before! Stay tuned for a vlog about my journey!

  • I really loved this blog post! I can definitely relate to making meal planning complicated when it really doesn’t have to be.

  • I’m currently meal planning (and procrastinating while reading this!) I hate doing it but it saves so much money, by planning what I’m eating for a whole week for me and my boyfriend, it only costs about £30-40 and that includes laundry or bathroom essentials! 🙂 x
