If you are an frequent reader of my blog, you are probably tired of hearing me talk about how busy I am. BUT IT IS TRUE! For the longest time, it was so difficult to maintain my busy life and health. I have gotten so much better with little efforts here and there, and taking my Centrum MultiGummies daily!

For starters, I have two gorgeous furbabies. My oldest, Schmidt, is well trained and doesn’t require much work besides feeding and walking and regular loving. However, the new baby puppy, Fiona, is a pooping, chewing machine.

Then, I have my full-time job that requires my attention all day, every day. I catch myself working while trying to relax. It has become a real problem.

Besides work, I am a 20-something, so I try to go out with my friends as often as I can without being a bad dog mom. Lately, the new puppy has deprived me of sleep and fun, but that of course, is only temporary.

And on top of all that, my passion project is this blog. I am guilty of half-efforting posts on sometimes because I am so stretched for time. I am working on it, and my content will continue to get better.

Oh, and did I mention I am in the process of buying a home. Yeah, you could say I have a lot on my plate (like most people in their 20s).

With all of that craziness constantly churning in my life, it is so easy to skip out on taking care of myself. In your 20s, this is where you create lifelong health habits, so it is so important to not let your health slip away because you are young.

SO, if you are like me, here are my 10 ways to focus more on health  – even when you are incredibly busy.

1.  Drink water

Drinking water is such an obvious one, but I keep a cup right on my nightstand, so it is the first thing I do every morning. During the winter, I love a warm cup of water with a lemon.

Drinking water improves your skin, keeps you from being constantly bloated and keeps you energized! If you like coconut water, that is also great to add to your routine to keep your skin glowing!

2. Workout a little every day

If you don’t have time to do a long workout everyday, incorporate a few moves into your routine to keep your body active.

One suggestion is to workout every morning. Here is a simple routine you can do when you wake up.

The second thing you can do is what I call multi-tasking activity. For example, I brush my teeth and hair and do squats during. When I am making myself breakfast, I do calf raises. Try to incorporate moves while doing sedentary activities!

3. Take a walk

I know you are probably thinking, you already told me to workout, isn’t this a little of the same. Taking a walk in this sense is more about meditation than it is about activity.

Sometimes it is so easy to get bogged down by everything going on in life, so sometimes you need to get some perspective. Even if you only have time to walk around the block before going out with friends, let you brain have some times to wander. Mental health is just as important as physical health.

5. Have a rewards system

Okay I am busy, but I could be less busy if I would give up some of my social life (and if I didn’t make the decision to get a new puppy #noregrets #shesthebest).

I operate on a reward system. If I want to go out for pizza with friends, I have to walk 3.5 miles or do some other activity to compensate for an unhealthy habits. Also if I make constant healthy decision for two weeks, I buy myself some makeup that I have been wanting.

6. Find a buddy

Find a fellow 20-something who is juggling the world the same way you do. Having a support system is so important! If you can have someone to keep you motivated, it really helps good habits stick.

Plus, I am super competitive, so it makes me work even harder on my health!

7. Stick to a skincare routine

Maintaining healthy young skin is important to keep your skin young and healthy in the future! If you take care of your skin now, you have a better chance of preventing aging spots.

In the mornings, I use a simple face wash and a light moisturizer. In the evening, I use a cleansing balm, micellar water, toner, eye cream serum and a heavy moisturizer. I also use a scrub once a week, and a mask once a week. This only takes about two minutes of my day.

8. Pay attention to nail health

Something that is easily forgotten is nail health! I keep a jar of cuticle oil by my nightstand, and I rub it into my nail beds every night! I also always use a health-promoting base coat to prevent damage from my nail polish!

9. Keep a clean home

This goes back to mental health – having a decluttered home leaves space for creativity in your brain!

Be consistent, and you will never have to spend more than 30 minutes to make sure your home is clean! I make my bed every morning, and I keep a jar of wipes in every bathroom. Once I am done with the bathroom in the morning, I can wipe it down.

Find your own little routine to cut down on heavy cleaning time!

10. Keep a healthy snack in your bag

If you ever get hungry at work or at school, it is so easy to go to the snack machine. However, if you keep a healthy snack in your bag or at your desk, problem solved!

I use individual bags, so I don’t overeat. I keep almonds, pumpkin seeds, protein bars, and apples nearby.
