Tips to Host the Perfect Holiday Party

At one point in your life, you will end up being the one throwing the Holiday party – and you will feel the intense responsibility that comes with it!

Everyone wants to throw the best Holiday party – and I know that no matter what kind of party I throw, I want everyone to have a good time.

Tips to Host the Perfect Holiday Party

Here are a few tips to ensure that your Holiday party is fun and easy!

Clean that gross thing you have been avoiding

There are a few things in my house that I hate doing – sweeping, cleaning vents, taking the trash out and sweeping the back porch.

I put those things off for as long as possible – and they all have one thing in common, they are covered in dog hair (damn these fluffy cute dogs)!

I hate vacuuming because it takes so much time, and I hate sweeping because it just moves all of the dog hair around (hint, it’s all hiding under the sofa).

But whatever it is that you have been avoiding (especially yard work), make sure you do it before the party! Primarily because you don’t want to look gross, but also because it’s a great reason to finish off your to-do list!

Figure out your menu – and plan out your time

If you are throwing a dinner party – first, bless your heart – second, you need to be as organized as possible!

Dinner parties are the most stressful things you can do (not trying to scare you, just my experience).

You need to figure out a menu, and you need to figure out how much prep and cooking time you are dealing with. I like to do one complicated dish, and then make all the rest of them easy!

Also, make sure you have enough serving dishes! I finally bought three big bowls and three big trays, so I would have something for dinner parties!

AND – the thing I always forget is drinks! If you are doing BYOB, that is easy – however, make sure you have non-alcoholic options! I also love an original cocktail recipe – like this Pomegranate Whiskey Sour!

Design a gorgeous tablescape

Dinner parties deserve a beautiful table – and the best thing about this step is it can be done way ahead of time!

The key elements to a gorgeous tablescape are chargers, nice dinnerware, napkins and a centerpiece.

Stock the bathroom

I hate going to parties where the bathroom is out of toilet paper!

Remember, the main places your guests will be are the living room, kitchen, dining room and the bathroom!

I always make sure there is soap, toilet paper, Poo~Pourri and a hand towel before I throw any party.

Plan the perfect outfit

When you are getting ready to dress for the night, remember you will be on your feet for most of the night – so make sure you are cute but comfortable.

If you are serving food, you also probably want to avoid white! I love to wear a comfortable sweater, my jeans that make my butt look good and some fashionable, but practical boots!

Send out invitations

DONT FORGET TO TELL PEOPLE ABOUT YOUR PARTY! I suggest creating a Facebook event and invite everyone from there.

This way, people can easily find your address, and you can see who has RSVP’d!

I hope these tips help you have a great holiday party!
